Pat honorably Served 31 years in the US Army Infantry, and 6 years in the Iowa Army National Guard as a Combat Engineer. Pat has multiple combat tours including Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan and. Other key missions include; Expeditionary Force in Kuwait, advisor tour in Mali, Africa, and overseas tours Germany, Korea, and Kosovo. Pat speaks German as a second language. Pat's awards and decorations include: The Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal (2), Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (7), and Army Achievement Medal (7). The Combat Infantry Badge, Combat Action Badge.
